Transitioning into Spring
I don't know about you, (SINGS) but I'm feelin' twenty twoooo! Ok just kidding, I just couldn't write those first words without thinking that and singing it over and over in my head. Anyways. I don't know about you, but I'm seriously ready for some real Spring weather. Chicago has been such a tease this year and thought it was totally OK to give us 70 degree days in February and then be in the 30s in April... I mean, really!? I'm currently sitting in a coffee shop in Los Angeles, California (I was sitting outside but then my computer gave me the low battery warning and the outlet outside wasn't working so now I'm inside). Side note: I'm here because tonight I am surprising my best friend, Sophie! Tomorrow is her 25th birthday. She has no idea I'm here (I think) and I'm just writing today's blog post in a coffee shop in her neighborhood waiting for her to get home from work. I'm so excited and so nervous (updates on the surprise to come!).
Anyhow, I was sitting outside in a skirt, t shirt and leather jacket and couldn't help but think how great the sun felt and how much I am really ready to be comfortable outside at home again. One thing I really miss in the Winter is Spring hues. I'll be honest, I'm not the biggest wearer of Spring hues (or any hues for that matter) but I'm trying to get better. I always get so happy when I see girls in Spring florals and pastels and I just want to be more like that, or at least try to. I've got to give the black a break once in a while, right?
Since it's technically Spring, but not yet Spring weather, I've been transitioning my looks slowly to feel Springy. THIS top from Harlowe & Graham totally inspired me for this Springtime look. It's such a pretty creme color and the material is just so soft! Oh, also... it's under $30! I paired THIS top with THIS pastel robe coat, simple black accessories and a bright pink lip (it's my favorite pink lipstick. Find it HERE). The combination of the long sleeve off the shoulder top, with the pastel coat and light wash jeans (mine are THESE Levi's) were the perfect way to stay warm enough but look and feel a little Springy.
Let's hope real Spring gets here fast. For now, let's break out the pink lipstick, the light wash jeans and those florals and pastels to feel Springy even when the weather doesn't.
